Observations
The water is still up a little and there are buds all over the ground from the trees. We are just days away from the foliage "popping". Calls are becoming more frequent for boat tours, which is a good thing. I really like to have the opportunity to get out in the Shiawassee Flats before it really greens up. We see lot of stuff year round, but in the Spring with the migrations, and sometimes higher water levels, its usually a bonus.
I saw some sort of medium size hawk pummel a black bird a couple of weeks ago on a cold rainy day on my way to Bulldog's. The hawk dove vertically about ten feet to hit the bird like a ton of bricks. A pretty incredible sight at fifty miles per hour. Today the frogs are chirping and the gentle rains are making the air sweet. Yup, it doesn't get any better than this. Well... I could be out Johnny Panthering.
