It looks beautiful!! I did truly miss out.....but it wouldn't have been wise for me to be on a boat that day!! Not to worry -- I'll be back for a visit and we will go out BEFORE any fun the night before!!!

Wil,thanks for another great trip. Julie truly missed out. That day reminds me of my favorite quote...
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."
-Henry David Thoreau

Anyone who hesitates to take a tour with Captain Wil Hufton III and his Johnny Panther Tours is missing a great opportunity. A person who lives in the city most of their lives will never know what the wild portions of Michigan have to offer if they don't go in for a little adventure. My daughter was a little apprehensive about the sixteen foot boat at first, but soon discovered that in the right hands it is as stable as a kitchen table. Great stuff.

Thanks for reminding me. Doing a "marathon trip" today, would hate to be "nutless". Thanks for the woods education, obviously I needed tutoring!

I'm happy my buddy Wil made it out on a trail ride with a few of his fellow buddies. Mike's ORV bandaid is truly a classic. As you say, Safe, Fun, Fast and everybody had a great time! Oh by the way, I am still enjoying your famous bag of "pastatio's in a ziplock bag" that you left in my truck! And I still managed to get Hannah and a few of her buddies out to be spooked by Paranormal Activities the movie!

The growth on the tree looks like a burl, which is sort of like a cancerous growth where the cells go crazy in one spot and make these bulges on the tree. In maple trees, large burls create a beautiful swirling pattern in the growth rings of the wood which is highly prized for tabletops.

Sorry to read your post and feel the heartache behind the words. Over the years, we will all experience the loss of those special people in our lives. Eternal life, in my book, is passing those life lessons on to others who follow.
p.s. I hope that one of the lessons that you have now learned from Dave is to WEAR YOUR HELMET!

This trip was fantastic. My wife and I had no idea what we were in for when we rounded the first bend in the river. I have never seen so many species of bird in one place. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is "breathing" as Wil says.

We would be steady Johnny Pantherers if we lived closer. Even the cold wouldn't bother us if we could enjoy a crisp clear day like you had on the 31st.
I do have to admit that the warmer winters of the Carolinas are much more to my liking these days.
We talk every week or so to a good friend who lives about 50 miles north of Dolly Copp at Pittsburg, NH. She is still having temperatues of around zero each morning. and snow most evry night.

Yes, we were cold, but I wasn't miserably cold. Being cold was worth the trip. We also saw flying turkeys, and they looked graceful! Thanks, Will. Your knowledge and enthusiasm were terrific. The stop to listen to the woods and water, and the thinning light near dusk were wonderful. Ruth

Will is right - we were very cold, but we had a great time. We also saw a beaver, in addition to lots (>20) eagles, and a heron rookery.
Thanks, Will
Thanks, Will
